What are the duties that a muezzin must perform?

The muezzin must be a Muslim, male, and discerning. For the adhan to be valid, all its words must be recited in order, consecutively, by one person with the intention of performing it. It is sunnah for him to have a loud voice, be trustworthy, knowledgeable of the prayer times, in a state of purity, and standing.
