The answer

The story is well-known and established, narrated by Al-Bukhari and Ahmad from Anas ibn Malik, that one of the Mothers of the Believers sent food to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was with some of his wives. The other (wife) struck the hand of the servant, and the plate fell and broke. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then gathered the pieces of the plate and the food and said: "Your mother became jealous." Then he took an intact plate from the one in her house and gave it to the one whose plate was broken, and kept the broken one. Most narrations are vague with the phrase "with some of his wives," and some mention Aisha. No specific number of companions present with him was mentioned.
