Why did Imam Al-Bukhari never narrate from Imam Al-Shafi'i?

Imam al-Bukhari did not hear from or meet Imam al-Shafi'i, because al-Shafi'i passed away in 204 AH, whereas al-Bukhari was born in 194 AH. Al-Bukhari was still young when al-Shafi'i died, in addition to the difference in their homelands. As for al-Bukhari not narrating from al-Shafi'i, perhaps the reason is that al-Bukhari obtained high chains of narration through other طرق (routes), and if he had narrated through al-Shafi'i, his chain would have been much lower.
