Is it necessary for one who holds that inner affirmation is sufficient for salvation to also hold that everyone who knows God will be saved, even if they are not Muslim? And is one who holds that inner affirmation and verbal declaration without deeds are sufficient considered a Murji’ or a disbeliever by those who maintain the obligation of prayer?

The statement that faith is merely an affirmation of the heart is a view held by the Jahmiyyah and the Murji'ah. This view does not necessitate that whoever knows God will be saved, even if they are not Muslim; rather, belief in the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, is essential. And whoever restricts faith to the affirmation of the heart and utterance by the tongue, excluding deeds, is a Murji', not a disbeliever. There is no Muslim who does not affirm the obligation of prayer, even the Murji'ah affirm its obligation.
