What is the ruling of the Sharia regarding helping a young man who is in debt and unable to repay his debts after losing his projects, and is he allowed to stop working because of that?
If Allah loves a people, He tests them. So be patient and seek reward, and know that there is no refuge from Allah except in Him. And creditors should grant an indebted person time until his situation eases, for Allah Almighty said: "And if there is one in [financial] difficulty, then [let there be] a postponement until [a time of] ease. But if you give [it as] charity, it is better for you, if you only knew." And be diligent in supplicating for the repayment of debt: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, and I seek refuge in You from inability and laziness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice and miserliness, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and from being overpowered by men," and the supplication: "O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful [provision] against Your unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty beyond anyone else."
