What is the ruling on eating the meat of slaughtered chicken sold in grocery stores, when we do not know if the one who slaughtered it abandons prayer or not?

For chicken to be permissible to eat, it must be slaughtered according to Islamic law by cutting the windpipe and the two jugular veins, and the slaughterer must be a Muslim or a person of the Book; otherwise, it is carrion. The default assumption for the slaughter of a Muslim is its validity, and this is not negated by not knowing whether he prays or not, unless it is proven that he abandoned prayer in denial of its obligation. If that is proven, then he is a disbeliever, and his slaughtered meat is not permissible. However, if he abandons it out of laziness, there is a difference of opinion among scholars, which affects the ruling on his slaughtered meat.
