What is the ruling on eating the breasts of a choked chicken, and is it permissible to eat chicken outside the home if the method of its slaughter is unknown?

Every animal or bird whose life is taken by strangulation or electrocution is considered carrion, and it is forbidden to eat it, due to the Almighty's saying: "Forbidden to you are carrion, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that over which any name other than God's has been invoked, and the strangled animal." There is no difference in prohibition between the breast and other parts. As for what is served in restaurants, if it was slaughtered by Muslims or People of the Book, or if it is not known that they strangle it, then it is permissible to eat it based on the general principle, because food is not discarded due to doubt. However, if it is known that they do not slaughter it according to Islamic law, or if it is common practice in the country for people not to slaughter according to Islamic law, then it is not permissible to eat it.
