Must the divorcee return half the dowry, at its value at the time of purchase or at its current value, after being divorced before consummation, knowing that her fiancé promised her three times its value but did not fulfill that promise?

If a woman is divorced before consummation, she is entitled to half of the stipulated mahr, which includes the agreed-upon gold and the deferred mahr. She must return half of the gold she received to the husband. The return should be in gold itself, unless it is damaged or lost, in which case its value on the day of damage or loss should be returned. The husband must give her half of the remaining stipulated mahr, and he should fulfill his promise to give her half of the amount he pledged, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The believers are bound by their stipulations."
