What is meant by Ibn Mas'ud's saying: "Let me not find any of you a carrion by night, a pestle by day"?

The hadith narrated by Al-Tabarani in Al-Mu'jam Al-Kabeer indicates a prohibition against excessive activity and noise during the day, and against heavy sleep at night that leads to missing the night vigil (Qiyam al-Layl). The excessively active person is likened to the "qutrub," a small creature that never stops moving during the day, and the one who abandons the night vigil is likened to a "carcass" due to their stillness and lack of movement.
