Is it permissible to work in companies that pollute the environment, such as chemical companies?

Allah commanded the preservation of the environment and the investment of its resources, and He condemned those who cause corruption therein. It is not permissible to work in companies that cause harmful environmental pollution, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There should be no harm nor reciprocating harm." However, necessity or need may permit this, as necessities permit the prohibited, and the greater of two benefits takes precedence. The estimation of the necessity that permits the establishment of polluting factories is entrusted to the rulers and specialists, and they must observe scientific principles to avoid harm, for necessity is to be estimated by its extent.
