Is it permissible to return the wife to the husband's bond after he uttered an oath of divorce to her following an argument between them?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If the divorce is the first or second, the husband has the right to take back his wife as long as she is within her waiting period (iddah), without the need for a new contract or the wife's consent. The revocation is effected by saying, "I have taken back my wife," and it is recommended to have witnesses to it. The revocation also occurs by engaging in sexual intercourse during the iddah. The wife is advised to fear Allah and obey her husband in what is right, and not to leave the house without his permission, especially for work if he provides for her. The husband is advised to use legitimate means of reconciliation with his wife and not to rush into divorce.
