Will everyone who enters Paradise first be purified by the Fire, with the exception of those whom Allah has guaranteed Paradise and the martyr?
The meaning of "al-wurud" (وردها) mentioned in the verse: "And there is none of you but will reach it [Hell]" (Quran 19:71), has been a subject of scholarly disagreement. Some interpret it as presence, others as entry, and still others as passing over the Sirat (a bridge) which is a body situated on the back of Hell. It is necessary for anyone who will enter Paradise to be purified from all their sins. This purification occurs in this world through repentance and seeking forgiveness, and in the hereafter through intercession, the terrors of the Day of Judgment, and the mercy of Allah Almighty. The sinful monotheists will be brought forth from the Fire after their purification from it.
