Is it permissible to blacken the faces of the Prophet, the Companions, and the scholars? And when is it permissible to add to the transmitted texts? What is the interpretation of the Hadith, "I believed in Your messenger whom You sent" instead of "Your Prophet"? And does everyone have a share of his name?

It is permissible to describe the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, his companions, and scholars as "our masters," because it is an affirmation of a truth, as long as it is not in acts of worship such as prayer and the adhan, in which case one adheres to what has been transmitted and does not add to it. As for departing from what has been transmitted, whether it constitutes a reprehensible innovation is determined by the precise definition of a legitimate innovation. The hadith in which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade Al-Bara' from saying, "And Your Messenger whom You have sent," and commanded him to say, "And Your Prophet whom You have sent," is evidence of the importance of adhering to the transmitted wording, and that other wordings are not on the same level, either due to a difference in meaning, or because the wordings of supplications are divinely ordained. As for the influence of the name on the named, names do have an influence on the named, and the named are affected by their names in terms of beauty, ugliness, and other qualities. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to prefer good names and derive meanings from them.
