What should we do about being falsely accused by members of the Zakat Committee who possess documents incriminating them of embezzlement, after we refused to appoint one of them as treasurer, which led to the freezing of the committee's work?

The individuals who sought to freeze the committee's work, prevent good from reaching the poor, and embezzled funds allocated to them, have erred. They must repent by returning what they have embezzled, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The hand is responsible for what it has taken until it returns it." You have done well in concealing their actions, but if they insist on not returning the funds, and the threat of exposing their embezzlement is ineffective, then you must submit the documents that incriminate them to the competent authorities; otherwise, you will be considered complicit with them.
