There is no objection to a pilgrim in the state of anointing himself with oil or the like, if the anointing is not perfumed, especially for medicinal purposes. If the oil is scented with pleasant aromas from something not originally used as perfume (like apples and lemons), then there is no objection to using it. However, if it is scented with something that is intrinsically a perfume (like musk), then it is not permissible for theram to use it.
