Is it permissible to shorten the prayer for someone who travels 40 miles daily for work and returns on the same day?

A traveler observes the rulings pertaining to travel, such as shortening prayers (qasr), breaking the fast (if fasting), combining prayers (jam'), and wiping over the leather socks (masḥ ʿala al-khuffayn) for three days, if the distance of his journey is 100 km or its equivalent, or 80 km or its equivalent according to the majority of scholars.
