Is it permissible to run in order to catch the prayer?

One should not run to catch the prayer, as this contradicts tranquility and dignity. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When the iqamah for prayer is called, do not come to it running, but come walking, and عليكم السكينة [and عليكم السكينة – upon you is tranquility]. So, whatever you catch, pray, and whatever you miss, complete it. For indeed, when one of you is heading for prayer, he is in prayer."
