What is the ruling on living in a house whose source of money is unlawful, and how can one deal with that, especially with the presence of children and the fear of the effect of unlawful money on them? And what must a daughter do regarding her father who does not pray, and he is eighty years old?
One must advise the one who abandons prayer and remind him of the gravity of his action, as some scholars consider abandoning it an act of disbelief, even if due to laziness, and this is among the greatest acts of kindness towards him. This should be accompanied by supplication for his guidance and seeking assistance from scholars and close relatives. As for benefiting from his mixed wealth, there is no harm in it, and a ruling is not built upon a mere presumption of unlawfulness. There is no objection to living with him in the same house, because if there is unlawfulness in the wealth, it pertains to his liability, not to the purchased item itself. It is also advised to strive for marriage and seek assistance from trusted female friends or relatives.
