What is the share of the father, mother, and wife, respectively, in the inheritance?

The inheritance is distributed as follows if the deceased has no heirs other than those mentioned:

1. The wife: One-fourth (a fixed share) due to the absence of a lineal descendant, as Allah Almighty says: (And for them [the wives] is one fourth of what you leave if you have no child). 2. The mother: One-third of what remains after the wife's fixed share, as Allah Almighty says: (But if he has no child and his parents inherit from him, then for his mother is one third). 3. The father: What remains after the fixed shares of the wife and mother, by way of residuary inheritance ('asabah).

The estate is divided into twelve shares: three shares for the wife, three shares for the mother, and six shares for the father.

It must be noted that matters of inheritance are critical and complex, and merely issuing a fatwa is not sufficient. Rather, they must be referred to the Sharia courts for investigation and to ensure that there are no other heirs, wills, or debts that take precedence over the rights of the heirs.
