Is it permissible to perform a cosmetic nose surgery if a therapeutic procedure disfigured its appearance? And what is the ruling on cosmetic surgeries that alter the shape or restore it to its original state?

Prohibited cosmetic surgeries are those intended to seek beauty and enhance attractiveness. However, those undertaken to remove a defect or treat an accidental flaw are permissible. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen mentioned that cosmetic procedures are of two types: The first is removing a defect, which is permissible. He gave examples such as straightening a deviated nose, correcting a squint, or repairing a cleft lip. As for the second type, it is increasing beautification, and this is not permissible. For this reason, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the women who filed their teeth for beauty.
