What is the ruling on a traveler praying Dhuhr and Asr with an early combination on Friday, and was he obligated to pray Jumu'ah?

If the aforementioned man is traveling a distance that permits shortening prayers (qasr), then the Friday prayer (Jumu'ah) is not obligatory upon him, in emulation of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He is also permitted to combine Dhuhr and Asr prayers, or Maghrib and Isha prayers, either by advancing them (jam' taqdeem) or delaying them (jam' ta'kheer), depending on the time of departure.
