The meaning of "shedding blood" is pouring and spilling it, and it includes killing and wounding. The commentators of Hadith did not mention that "shedding the blood of a Muslim" includes wounding him; rather, they interpreted it as killing. It is stated in an authentic narration that the perishing of the world is less significant to Allah than the unjust killing of a believer, and this is used as an evidence when interpreting the verse in Surat An-Nisa. Intentionally wounding a Muslim, killing him, or inflicting any harm upon him without a legitimate Sharia right is forbidden.
