It is permissible to give the poor husband from Zakat funds if he does not have enough to suffice him. However, if his daughter is wealthy and capable of supporting him, then his maintenance is obligatory upon her, and thus he would not be eligible for Zakat. But if his daughter does not possess enough to cover his expenses, then he is to be given from Zakat what suffices him for one year. In this case, it is permissible to give him a monthly allowance from Zakat, provided that you possess the Zakat threshold (nisab) in full, and it is permissible to pay Zakat in advance of its due date (hawl). As for children, it is not permissible to disburse Zakat to them. The nisab for Zakat is equivalent to 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver, and the amount of Zakat is 2.5%.
