There are two types of hijab: one that is agreed upon, which is covering the entire body except for the face and hands, and one that is differed upon, which is covering the face and hands.

It is obligatory for the husband to compel his wife to observe the legal hijab. If she insists on uncovering her face and hands, there is no sin upon her according to the majority of scholars, and she should not be divorced for this reason.

However, if she uncovers more than that, she is disobedient by the consensus of scholars, and it is recommended to divorce her if advice is unhelpful.
