To what extent is the hadith true: "There is no prayer for the mosque's neighbor except in the mosque"?

The hadith "There is no prayer for the mosque's neighbor except in the mosque" is weak as a prophetic hadith, but it is a saying of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and its meaning is sound. Authentic hadiths confirm the obligation for a man to pray in the mosque, such as his (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever hears the call to prayer has no prayer except for an excuse," and his command to Ibn Umm Maktum, who was blind, to answer the call, and his (peace be upon him) threat to burn the houses of those who do not attend the prayer. Therefore, it is obligatory for men to perform prayers in the mosques with the Muslims. His prayer at home is valid but incomplete and entails sin, and the complete prayer that absolves its performer from sin is the one performed in the mosque.
