Does practicing masturbation from the age of seven, then stopping it and drawing closer to Allah, affect a person, knowing that he only recently became aware of its drawbacks?
The majority of scholars prohibit masturbation, basing their ruling on the words of the Almighty: (And those who guard their private parts Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors), and due to its health harms. The practitioner of this habit is urged to repent and seek forgiveness, for Allah forgives all sins. Drawing closer to Allah and maintaining prayer in the mosque help in abandoning this habit, and good deeds efface bad deeds. The one who repents from a sin has their bad deeds transformed into good deeds. There is no sin for what was practiced before puberty, as the pen is lifted from the child until they reach الاحتلام (wet dream/puberty).
