What should I do in my marriage to a non-Muslim woman who has not embraced Islam, despite her agreement to raise the children as Muslims? Is it permissible for me to have children with her, given my fear for the children's religion? And what are her rights after divorce?

The husband is advised to adhere to Islam and preserve its rituals, to be a role model for his scriptural wife, and to supplicate to Allah and seek His guidance regarding procreation with her or separating from her and marrying a Muslim woman. It is not permissible to coerce her into Islam; rather, her attachment to him can be leveraged to encourage her towards it.

Procreation with a scriptural wife is permissible if circumstances are conducive to raising the children upon Islam, with security from the influence of the mother or her family.

Care should be taken to emigrate to an Islamic country to enable proper upbringing of the children.

In the case of divorce: The wife is entitled to the deferred dowry. The maintenance and housing during the waiting period (iddah) vary according to the type of divorce. For a revocable divorcee, there is housing and maintenance, whereas a woman divorced with an irrevocable divorce is not entitled to maintenance or housing unless she is pregnant.
