If the wife's work conflicts with her fulfilling the rights of her husband and children, does the husband have the right to retract the condition of her continuing to work, and does that affect the validity of the marriage contract?

If marital rights conflict with conditions stipulated by one spouse to the other, the rights take precedence because they are obligatory by Sharia (definition) and by virtue of the contract, and the obligation to fulfill them is a matter of consensus, unlike conditions. There is no blame on the husband for retracting his condition that his wife work if it conflicts with her family obligations, such as his right to cohabitation and procreation, and the children's right to care. The wife may stipulate in the marriage contract that she works outside the home, and the husband is bound by it if he agrees. The husband may also ask his wife to stop working after giving his permission if it is in the best interest of the family and children. The wife remaining in work or being prevented from it does not affect the marriage contract.
