Accusing a Muslim woman of marrying a Christian does not constitute qadhf (false accusation of unchastity) warranting the prescribed punishment (hadd), but rather entails discretionary punishment (ta'zir) if the accuser is a liar. The marriage of a Muslim woman to a non-Muslim is forbidden by Islamic law, and separation between them is obligatory. The hadd punishment for zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) is not applied to a woman who marries a disbeliever; therefore, the one who accuses her of such an act is not subject to the hadd. Any act for which the perpetrator is not subject to a hadd punishment does not entail a hadd for the one who accuses them of it.
