What is the ruling of Islamic law on benefiting from points granted for cash withdrawals and purchases made with credit cards from usurious banks, and is it permissible to convert these points into gifts?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is not permissible to deal with usurious banks unless there is a necessity when legitimate alternatives are unavailable, and what is permitted due to need is estimated by its measure. Credit cards often do not free themselves from Sharia prohibitions. If the card is prohibited, then the gifts offered because of it are not permissible. However, if the card is permissible, there is no objection to benefiting from the gifts that come because of it, provided that the transaction with the card itself is permissible.
