What is the ruling on sprinkling water in front of the house, excessively or non-excessively, for the purpose of ventilation?

Sprinkling water in front of the house without extravagance is permissible if there is a need for it and no harm results from it. However, extravagance in the use of water is not permissible, due to the Almighty's saying: "And do not be extravagant. Indeed, He does not like the extravagant." Extravagance is exceeding the limit in the use of things, and it is a blameworthy trait that scholars have ruled to be forbidden.
