Is a girl who sees a brownish discharge after seeing the signs of purity and its dryness required to pray and fast, knowing that she usually sees the signs of purity at the end of the sixth day of her menstrual cycle, which ranges between 6 and 7 days?

The fatwa we adhere to is that yellowish or brownish discharge is not considered menstruation unless it occurs during the accustomed period before purification, or if it is continuous with blood. So, if a woman confirms purification—by dryness or by the white discharge—and then sees yellowish or brownish discharge, she does not consider it menstruation; rather, she is pure and should pray and fast. And if a woman purifies herself from her menstruation, and then after purification and the sign of dryness or the white discharge, she sees some secretions, she does not consider them menstruation. Instead, their ruling is similar to that of urine; she must perform istinja' (washing) from them and ritual ablution. However, if the brownish discharge is continuous with the accustomed period, such that she did not see purification before it, then it is considered menstruation. Yellowish and brownish discharge after purification invalidate ablution, and they are impure, necessitating the purification of the body and clothes from them.
