There are two schools of thought regarding blood that returns after seeing purity (cessation of bleeding):

1. The Hanbali School: A habit (of menstruation) is not established unless it recurs three times. The purity she saw is valid purity, and the brownish discharge on the sixth day is menstruation. Whatever returned after that is istihadah (non-menstrual bleeding), and she is obligated to make up the prayers she missed during this period. 2. The Shafi'i School: Everything a woman sees of blood, yellowish discharge, or brownish discharge during the possible period (15 days) is considered menstruation. Accordingly, abstaining from prayer when the blood returned is valid, and she is not obligated to make up those prayers.

A woman may adopt either of these two opinions and act upon it.
