Are there special merits for the tenth day of Dhul-Hijjah?

Allah replaced the days of play and amusement (Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha) for the Muslim nation with days of remembrance, gratitude, and forgiveness. These are two Eids that do not recur annually. Eid al-Fitr comes after fasting Ramadan (definition), and prayer and charity are prescribed therein. Eid al-Nahr (the Sacrifice Eid), on the tenth of Dhu al-Hijjah, is the greater and more virtuous of the two Eids. It comes after the completion of Hajj on the Day of Arafah, which is considered the greatest pillar of Hajj and a day of liberation from Hellfire.

Virtues of the Day of Nahr: 1. The best of days in the sight of Allah: As the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Indeed, the greatest of days in the sight of Allah is the Day of Nahr." 2. The Day of the Greater Hajj: Because most of the Hajj rituals occur on it (stoning the Jamrat al-Aqabah, sacrificing, shaving or shortening the hair, circumambulating, and performing Sa'i). 3. A day of Eid for Muslims: It is a day of eating and drinking.
