A girl reaches puberty upon the manifestation of one of four signs: the growth of pubic hair (al-inbat), the emission of fluid (al-inzal), completing fifteen lunar years, or menstruation (al-hayd). Al-inbat is a sign of puberty according to the Maliki and Hanbali schools, and upon its occurrence, the girl is considered to have reached puberty. She must make up the days she missed fasting during that year, and this obligation of making up the fasts is not waived due to ignorance. Similarly, missed prayers must be made up. If she does not know their exact number, she should endeavor to estimate them until she is reasonably certain of having fulfilled her obligation.
