Is it permissible to pray for a singer if he dies?

One prays over a singer if he was a Muslim, even if his actions were unlawful — whether he used musical instruments or not. The consensus of scholars on this has been reported, with the exception of what Abu Hanifa held regarding combatants, Al-Hasan regarding the offspring of adultery, and Az-Zuhri and Qatadah regarding carrion.
