Is a smoking person who does not smoke in front of righteous brothers considered a hypocrite, dishonest with God in the unseen, and among those whose faces will be set ablaze in the Fire?

IslamWeb has previously issued fatwas regarding the prohibition of smoking. It is obligatory to quit smoking definitively. However, if a smoker insists on smoking, it is forbidden for him to smoke in front of people, because this constitutes an open declaration of disobedience. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "All of my Ummah will be forgiven except for those who openly declare their sins." Therefore, one must conceal their sins and not declare them openly. The questioner is advised to exert effort to quit smoking, to make abundant supplications, and to implement the facilitating means for that.
