Is eating food from charities and "zardat" forbidden?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

There is no impediment to eating from charity food if its origin is permissible and what it was made for is lawful. As for charity food prepared upon the death of a deceased person, it is among the forbidden innovations and it is not permissible to eat from it. As for what is slaughtered for saints (awliya), it is not permissible to eat from it because it is among that "over which the name of other than Allah has been invoked."
