Is it permissible to supplicate against evil scholars for death upon an evil end and misguidance, and is it permissible for the oppressed to supplicate thus against their oppressor?

Evil scholars are among the worst of creation, for they conceal what Allah has revealed of clear proofs and guidance. The angels and the believers curse them, and even insects and animals. Ibn Taymiyyah likened them to "him to whom We gave Our signs, but he slipped away from them." Al-Ghazali said that their evil is greater than the evil of devils. It is permissible to supplicate against the type of evil scholars, but it is not permissible to supplicate against specific individuals among them. It is better to supplicate for their guidance. As for the supplication of the wronged against their oppressor, it is permissible to the extent of the injustice, but it is not permissible to transgress in supplication, such as supplicating for an evil end. It is better to forgive and supplicate for guidance.
