Did this incident, mentioned by the scholar Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani in his book "Al-Durar al-Kaminah," truly occur concerning a hunting dog that went wild and attacked a Christian preacher when he began to insult the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, leading to the conversion of nearly forty thousand Mongols to Islam?

The story referred to has no religious or rational impediment to its occurrence. Ibn Hajar's نقل (transmission) of it and his silence concerning it indicate its authenticity. Allah has sufficed His Prophet against those who mocked him, both in the past and in the present, and He may grant them respite for a wisdom known to Him. Every Muslim must support their religion and Prophet to the best of their ability, and unifying efforts and words is one of the most beneficial means. Emotion should not drive a Muslim to commit what is impermissible, and the consideration of these matters should be left to those of knowledge who balance benefits and harms, to avoid that which may cause more harm than good.
