What is the ruling on saying "We thank the Lord"?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
There is no harm in saying: "We thank the Lord" or "We praise the Lord" and similar phrases, for Allah is the Lord of the worlds, having no partner, and explicit texts have been narrated to this effect, such as the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The closest the Lord is to His servant is in the last part of the night," and his saying: "Indeed, you are the owned, and Allah عز وجل is the Lord." This is contingent on the speaker not intending to imitate the People of the Book.
