What is the ruling on promising a female friend a financial gift in exchange for her giving you the first turn in a financial cooperative?
First: There is no harm in the employees' association (jam'iyyah).
Second: The organizer of the association must be trustworthy in arranging those entitled to receive the money. The arrangement should be made by mutual agreement or by drawing lots. It is forbidden for him to show favoritism, lie, or accept a gift in exchange for prioritizing someone, as this is a bribe. It may also be forbidden because it is a gift to the lender.
Third: It is not permissible to give up one's turn in the association for compensation, because it is an exchange for a mere right, which is the right of precedence. Furthermore, it is a compensation paid to the lender while the loan is active, and this is forbidden.
