What is the ruling regarding a wife going out to work when her husband refuses and there is an infant child?

A wife is not permitted to leave her husband's home for work or any other reason without his permission, whether she has a child or not. An exception to this is if the husband withholds the obligatory financial support (nafaqa); in such a case, she is permitted to leave to obtain it.
