What is the ruling on using lipstick ("rouge") during the daytime in Ramadan?
Using lipstick while fasting is prohibited if any part of it dissolves and reaches the stomach. If nothing dissolves from it, or if you spit out what dissolved, then it is strongly disliked. A fasting person should be cautious with their fast and protect it from doubtful matters. If the lipstick is used for foreign men to see, then that is among the greatest prohibitions and deprives the fast of its benefit, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever does not give up false speech and acting upon it and ignorance, Allah has no need of his giving up his food and drink."
