The answer

Attending the funeral prayer and the burial of a deceased person holds great good and reward. Indeed, Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever attends a funeral until the prayer is offered, will have one qirat; and whoever attends until it is buried, will have two qirats." And two qirats are like two great mountains. Therefore, one should be keen to attend the funeral even if the deceased had wronged you. It is also recommended to pardon and forgive, for in them lies a great reward, as Allah Almighty says: "So whoever pardons and makes reconciliation — his reward is due from Allah."
