What is the ruling on standing in the صف (row) before the iqama in order to catch the first صف (row)?

The different scholarly opinions regarding the preferred time to stand for prayer, whether the Imam is present or not, have been previously explained. As for the situation mentioned, there is no religious evidence prohibiting it, especially if the purpose is to attain the virtue of the first row and the standing is not yet for the prayer itself.
