Is it permissible to say, "May Allah not shackle you in anything precious" (Allah la yaghulluk fi ghali), in response to the phrase "O precious one" (Ya ghaliyah), and does this fall under the meaning of the verse, "And the Jews say, 'The Hand of Allah is shackled.' Shackled are their hands, and cursed are they for what they said. Rather, both His Hands are extended; He spends as He wills"?

The phrase "Allah does not make you lose what is precious to you" means that Allah does not deprive you or prevent you from having something precious, and this is a correct understanding, for Allah gives and withholds and grants and prevents for a wisdom, as in His Almighty saying: ﴿And if Allah had extended [provision] for His servants, they would have committed tyranny in the earth. But He sends down [provision] in due measure whatever He wills. Indeed, He is, concerning His servants, Acquainted and Seeing.﴾ This phrase has no relation to the saying of the Jews: ﴿The hand of Allah is chained.﴾ For they described Allah as stingy, and their hands were chained, and they were cursed. It is also possible that the phrase means: "Allah does not make you excessively valuable to someone precious," meaning He does not make anyone consider what He gives you to be too much for you, and there is no harm in this meaning.
