What is the ruling on unearthing the treasures from the pharaohs' tombs if the method of extraction involves sorcery, and what is the ruling if the tomb extends into neighboring lands, knowing that the disclosure of this matter could lead to discord?

Practicing magic, dealing with it, and seeking it from a magician are major sins, and may even take one out of the fold of Islam. Therefore, it is not permissible to use magic to extract treasures. However, if a treasure from the treasures of the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah) is extracted through a lawful means, it is permissible, and its ruling is that of a "rikaz" (buried treasure), for which one-fifth is due. If the rikaz is found in owned land, the majority of scholars hold that it belongs to the landowner.
