Are funds extracted from a buried treasure with the help of a sorcerer prohibited, and is the price of purchasing a house with its treasure prohibited, and what is the ruling on going to charlatans and sorcerers to extract treasures? And is there a legitimate way to extract them?

Seeking help from sorcerers is forbidden and a grave sin, and it may amount to major disbelief if one believes that the sorcerer knows the unseen or can harm and benefit with his magic. It is forbidden to seek their help in extracting treasures, because the talismans they use are mostly not free of polytheism (shirk). Buried treasure (rikaz) from before Islam requires a fifth of it to be given out and spent on public treasury (fay’) or zakat expenditures, with the remainder belonging to the household. However, if it was buried by Muslims, it is considered lost property (luqatah) that must be announced for a year, after which the person who found it on their land may benefit from it. It is not permissible to sell statues and idols; rather, they must be broken, because the Sharia prohibits their sale, and it is forbidden to keep them. Whoever takes money from selling prohibited items, such as idols, must donate it as charity and repent.
