Is zakat obligatory on electrical appliances and other items that my mother prepared for me for my dowry, even though I am not engaged, if the value of these items reaches the niṣāb?

Electrical appliances prepared for marriage are not subject to zakat, even if their value reaches the minimum threshold (nisab) and a year (hawl) has passed over them. This is because anything acquired for personal use (li al-qunyah) that a person owns is not subject to zakat, based on the hadith: "A man is not required to pay zakat on his slave or his horse."
